We made it!

We almost didn’t make it out of Rochester – one last winter snow storm to send us on our way! All our flights got rescheduled and, as a result, we ended up with no layovers. Convenient, but exhausting. Colette & I ended up running from flight to flight at every terminal.
Luckily, in LA we didn’t have to leave Terminal 6 and go over to Terminal 2 since we ended up taking United all the way to Sydney instead of transferring over to Air New Zealand and flying to Auckland. Of course, once we hit Sydney we had to clear customs, wait around a bit for a shuttle and then rush like mad to catch the domestic flight on Virgin Blue. We ended up sitting next to Patty Duke (no, not the real one) – an American who now lives in Solomon Islands. We had a good conversation with her.
Our apartment is nice, now that we’ve added things to make it ‘ours’. It has the largest deck in the world and some really big windows looking out onto the deck. Unfortunately we’re on the 2nd (aka: 1st in australia) floor so we don’t have a good view. Pity. But it’s only a block to the ocean.
We have a built in alarm clock – a frenzy of little birds start making this horible racket about 1 hour before sunrise! It sounds like we’re being invaded by aliens or something.
