John & Colette's Adventures

We’ve done our part to get rid of Bush & voted in the US Presidential Election. No clues as to who we voted for; that’s frowned upon.

Friday night we were sitting around enjoying something on TV when Colette suddenly shouted “Eyyyyewwwww” and climbed up on the back of her chair. (I did not! – Co) Crawling, very quickly too, across the floor was a multi-legged creepy crawly bug thing. Being the man, I had to climb off the back of my chair and grab the paper towel and chase the wormy-bug thing around the floor. After several attempts (during which Colette was doing the heebie-jeebie dance) I grabbed the wormy thing and chucked him out the back door. Then I sat back in my chair, had another swig of beer and said “Good on ya”. Or, I did the heebie-jeebie dance. You pick. We think it might have been a millipede – it had a huge number of legs and moved really fast. We see the most interesting things crawl across our living room.

A couple weeks ago Colette was kept company over 2 days by a pair of little lizards. They’re actually cute – in a reptilian sort of way. We eventually caught them and set them free outside so they could join their buddies living under our ‘wheelies’ (the trash cans). Colette was actually a little sad to see the house mates go. She has a picture of one of them perched on ‘Boozer’ our cement dog, but it’s on film so it’ll be a few years before it gets developed.

Today Colette was having a nice swim in the ocean when she noticed lots of people pointing at something. She quickly started trying to stand on top of the waves trying to get out of the ocean, but in fact, they were pointing at a dolphin nearby. The dolphin stayed around for a while eating, frolicking, and making general Flipper-like motions. What a treat! It makes up for the creepies crawling across our carpet. Sorta.
