On my own again…

Colette has gone back to the states for a month, leaving me here in the cold dark Australian winter alone! How mean of her!
Well, actually, she left me a fridge full of meals (whoo hoo!). I guess she was afraid I’d spend 4 weeks drinking beer and eating cheeze out of a can. She obviously knows me too well.
Some of the guys at work are joining an indoor cricket league & I’m jumping in to play! I’ll bring my glove and bat and, um, wait, they don’t use those. I do have to brush up on my lingo, though. Maybe I’ll get to play Silly Mid-On. I hope I don’t embarass myself by getting a golden duck. But maybe I’ll bowl a maiden and bat for 6!
Each person bats for 4 overs (6 balls per over) and bowls (pitches) 2 overs. Even if you get out, you keep batting. Instead, an out subtracts 5 points from your team’s score. There are 8 players on a team and the distance between wickets is half the normal length. There’s nets around the playing area and depending on where & how the ball hits the net determines if you get 6 or 4 runs (on top of the runs you get between the wickets).
It’s all so obvious!!
We’ll have to get pictures. Cricket season starts July 13 (or thereabouts).
It’ll be a ripper!
