Day in Brissie
Apr 9th, 2006 by admin
Colette & I spent Saturday night in Brisbane after joining a friend and his family at the Brisbane Lions AFL game. It was a good time, although I think Blake (who’s 5) had enough after about 20 minutes. But that’s ok, it kept us busy trying to keep him distracted.
Brisbane won the day 115 – 97. Mark wasn’t happy, being an Essendon fan.
We’ve posted some pics from the weekend.
In past news
We had a major heebee-jeebee moment in the car a few weeks ago. As a little background, we’ve often come out to our car to find spider webs all over the side mirrors. We took to referring to the spiders that created them as Harrison (since we drive a Ford Falcon), but it wasn’t a big deal. Until the night we went to dinner on the esplanade. We had just pulled out of the carpark and Colette shrieked “What is that!?”.
A giant huntsman spider was crawling on the inside of the windshield! Everyone says they’re harmless, but they’re about the size of your fist and to see one crawl across the windshield is a bit unnerving. I pulled around the corner and stopped and tried to get the monster out of the car but it kind of stuck to me and ended up under my seat! I decided that we were not in a great position to do lots of embarrasing crawling around the car hunting for this thing so I drove back to our house. We tried to get it out but it ended up hiding inside the center console. So, we went inside the house. A couple hours later Colette said “I hate to get all girly, but you have to kill that spider before I can drive the car again.” Well, I ended up going out and, with the flashlight, tried to locate the scary beast but with no luck. I thought it best to resort to chemical warfare and sprayed the inside of the car with cockroach spray. I figured it’s got to at least give the guy a really bad headache.
The next day Colette’s going to drop me off at work and we came out to the car and carefully opened the door. Fortunately, the spray had dissipated and we didn’t see the spider. But of course, just as we sat down, I looked up at the A pillar and there he was, wearing a party hat and singing Irish drinking songs! I grabbed a paper towel from the back seat (ok, it was about 25 paper towels) and scooped him up and gave him a quick trip to our wheelie bin. Yay! Enemy Vanquished!
On a nicer subject we took some more pictures of Caloundra. Check them out here. As of Sep 11, 2008, I don’t know where those pictures were so just go look around and you’ll find something interesting.
