We’re not bad guys!

Colette & I went out for a motorcycle ride Saturday and stopped for ice cream (need to find a new place – this one only had 3 flavors – chocolate, vanilla and mango). We were sitting at a picnic table in front of the bike when this little boy starts to slowly walk over. He’s got a serious look on his face and a half-eaten cone in his hand.
Colette smiles and we go back to eating.
He comes a little closer, so Colette says “Hi”.
Suddenly, he smiles and turns to his mom and says, “They’re not bad guys!” We just looked at each other and said “huh”?
His mom explained that when we rode in with our dark helmets and dark face shields that the kids were afraid we were bad guys. The little boy was the only one brave enough to come over to check us out. Wouldn’t want us to come and steal their ice cream! Fortunately, he ran back to the other kids, shouting “They’re not bad guys!”. Whew! Disaster averted.
We laughed all the way home.
mango is not a flavor.
it’s what one does when one drops a concrete block on one’s foot.
Alas, if they only knew.
