I have never gotten wrapped up in a presidential election like this one. America has the opportunity to undo some of the damage done by 8 years of a corrupted Cheney/Bush regime and I’m quite nervous we’ll choose to follow the same course. This is a path of hatred, fascism and environmental irresponsibility.
McCain’s latest slogan of “Country First” has me particularly annoyed and scared. This is the same mentality that gives us “My country, right or wrong!”. People are throwing away the whole foundation of a democracy! When you can’t take responsibility and stand up and say my country made a mistake without fear of being labeled unpatriotic (or worse) then you’ve given your freedoms away. Not to mention that if I had to choose between my country and my family, I would choose my family first.
No exceptions.
Any country that demands undying devotion is one step away for dictatorship.
You Go, John!
I, too, am scared that McCain and Palin will win. Palin scares me. She looks too much like a Stepford Wife.
We need to have more separation between church and state. Less paranoia and more understanding. Less us against the world and more listening and taking into account how the rest of the world feels.
mccain has an admirable history, and is a genuine hero.
however.
NONE of that qualifies him, by itself, to be commander-in-chief. if anything, i challenge someone to convince me that 5 years of torture DOESN’T change, permanently, a person’s mentation. i have no doubt that he is sincere. y’know what? dubya was sincere too-and stubborn. that vaucous headed, drooling, “my-way-or-the-highway” sincere buffoon has led us all down a very unpleasant path. he was so willing to defend us, that he’s willing to break and undo those very things that make us unique. now, a genuine old warrior is telling me “country first”?
to the exclusion of what?
i think not.
