We are almost there with getting electrons where they need to go!

The electrician breathed a big sigh of relief when I told him he could bypass 2 switches – one that controls a bunch of outlets (just about all of them) in the front room and one by the back door that turns on the dining room light. Neither of which we really use and the front room switched outlets are really annoying. We now have switches that really don’t do anything (kinda like pirates). Maybe we can hook up something and make them growl or blink lights in the neighbor’s house. Hmmmm.

The dining room light isn’t working today. It seems like every day some light or another doesn’t work. The electrician is blaming bad dimmer switches. I’m blaming it on him switching the breakers off by shorting the wires instead of running down the stairs to the breaker box. Maybe the switches fried. Anyway, he’s coming back tomorrow to replace the dimmer switches.

Next week they’re supposed to come and install the vent hood & back splash. We’re really looking forward to that!!

Almost done.

The electrician is not having a good time. He’s fighting the evil snarl of wires that lives in the center wall of our house.

He hasn’t been able to get the overhead lights to work consistently and is now trying to track down where these wires go.

Yesterday was a busy day for the cabinet installers.

The upper cabinets went in as well as the pantry cabinets. Today is granite day.

It’s a great day.

The new corner cabinet that was delivered is damaged. The back of the cabinet looks like it was kicked or something.

The carpenter is going to try to replace the backing but this single cabinet has been a pain in the ass.

Our garage is a disaster area.

Our stove was connected to the propane tank today! Yay.

Still waiting on electrical. Silly fancy shmancy ranges don’t come with their own power cords.

Our granite is supposed to get installed next wednesday. But we still have to get the carpenters back in to finish the cabinets (at least the lowers).

Stove & Fridge

The island and stove went in yesterday. Well, the stove went partially in. The gas company comes next thursday to hook it up.

We realized this morning that the end of the island facing the table is not finished right. We need to talk to Home Despot to get a new skin sent out. Our contractor said it’s not a big deal. We’ll see….

The kitchen is buzzing along. The electrician was having some fun getting everything in the right places. I had to have him move switches and outlets several times. He also had to come back and fix some wiring. When you used one of the switches to the overhead lights the circuit breaker would pop! But only the switch in the hallway. The other switch in the kitchen itself worked fine. Weird. Turns out one of the neutral wires, wasn’t.

They ripped out our stupid uneven arches! YAY.

Our Wolf stove got moved in today, but it’s not hooked up yet. That’ll wait until next Thursday. Our fridge is being delivered tomorrow. We have the granite folks coming Monday to do the template.

Our missing upper corner cabinet is due in on Tuesday.

And, just for grins, we’re getting an estimate on refinishing the wood floors Monday as well.
